Baileys New Bed

After researching the Tripawds website, we started purchasing things that we think Bailey might need. So we purchased a new dog bed, a Star Wars tshirt, a new crate and a new crate pad. She loves the bed, the shirt – not so much.

  1. Okay, just catching up on all Bailey’s blogs and going to,post here to comment on all.

First of all, Bailey is absolutely adorable!!! OMD!! Bailey is so cute!!

WOW! You jave really been on quite a journey with that paw! Goodness knows you have checked out all options!

And great job on getting that weight down!!! And for whatever it’s worth, we have several Bulldogs on the site who are rocking three legs just fine (and….shhh….I think they may even weight a bit more than Bailey)!

I know it’s been a stressful time getting to this point, but it IS a good solution! It’s ONE surgery and done!! That bum leg is gone!!

Not saying recovery is easy at all. It’s major surgery and it takes at least two weeks to recover from the surgery otself. And then about a month to adjust to the tripawd gait, muscle adjustment, etc.

In addition to the blog, you may want to start a thread during recovery shouldbyou have any questions. Sometimes these blogs go up and down so quickly and you may need input. We’ve all been through recovery and pretty much have seen it all!!

Is Bailey staying at an overnight clinic? Most dogs spend at least one night, some more. Managing pain is crucial. Bailey will most likely come home with Tramadol, Gabapentin, Rimadyl and an antibiotic.

STAY CONNECTED! YOU ARE. NOT ALONE!!

Give that adorable pup a hug for me! And thos pupoy pictures with your son…… melting my jeart!!❤❤❤

    Hugs

    1. Thank you for your comment! We are really hoping this will make her more comfortable. She is coming home tomorrow evening after the surgery. I know she will have a fetanyl patch on for pain as well as additional medication. My husband and I will be home to provide her round the clock care the first few days. Although I am not a vet, I am a nurse so all the stitches and wound care and medications administration doesn’t bother me at all. Honestly we’ve been doing wound care and giving her around 10 pills a day so that won’t be any different. We have also made arrangements for the kids so she is not as anxious. I am sure I will have so many questions. What do you mean a thread? I am new to all of this and just learning as I go! Again, thanks for reading our blog and reaching out. Here’s to hoping all goes well tomorrow! Keep Bailey in your prayers!

  2. Yes, your nursing experience will definitely help! Watching a dog as he wears off the anesthesia…while on a Fentynal patch…can be quite…er….”interesting “!

I’m jot very techir at all. Vut it you can get to the forums and click onto

    http://tripawds.com/forums/treatment-and-recovery/

You can type in a “title”. For example: “Bulldog Bailey’s amputation surgery and recovery”

Then shoild you jave any questions, etc, you can ask there and yiu will get pretty prompt answers. The blogs are great too for chronicling Bailey’s journey. Just didn’t want any concerns you may have about recovery not being answered quickly.

I’ll be looking for an update and celebrating like crazy when adorable Bailey is out of surgery and home!!😁

Sending pawsitive healing energy and extra hugs! He’s gonna do fine!!

The forums are a great way for us to follow you a lot easier, please take her advise so that we can help guide you should you need help during recovery.
Recovery can be tricky.. every furbaby handles it differently.
    Welcome and good luck!
